It's amazing working here!
Before joining IBM, I had worked for, believe it or not, four employers, including multinationals and a NGO. IBM makes a big difference in corporate culture: profound, energetic, stimulating, creative and friendly – these are all I like and enjoy.
Here you'll not be surprised to meet IBMers whose service years at IBM are more than 10 or even 25 years. I share their loyalty and what attract us in common are: IBM's culture, core spirit, sales model, management experience and operational processes, etc. I deeply believe IBM is the true leader in each of these areas as compared with other companies.
As a new comer, almost everything is beyond your knowledge. But don't be panic, you'll never be bored or having difficulty in learning. One of the reasons is that IBM's mentorship greatly helps freshman understand and handle work with mentor's help. I, myself benefit from, and also contribute a lot, to mentorship program: one of my proudest awards is the first one of six "IBM Best Mentors”.
IBM does provide a wide platform for employees to develop their careers in their interests. "Everything/everyday is new" is not a cliché here, where you've got many chances to try different things by following or developing your own interests. I obtained skills of contract management, company operation and process in my first job in IBM being a team leader.? And my second role as Client representative enabled me to obtain hands-on business experience and understand IBM business end-to-end value chain. Now I am busy in learning kinds of new things with my new job role in HR department, a department with full of energetic and brilliant people.
That's my sharing.
In a word, IBM provides a wide and colorful stage: you can try different jobs without changing employer - IBM provides such a chance as long as you demonstrate your capability with recognized performance.
I believe in that IBM is a place where you may work with talented people, develop your career, explore different areas of your own interests and make your dream come true.
It will prove more exciting than you can imagine.

Interned in IBM Marketing, offered by Global Business Services
“Where is my future?” “Which company should I choose?” “Which job will help to maximize my potential?” These are the questions fresh graduates always raised to themselves when they are hunting for jobs. I was just among them till I joined IBM Blue Pathway Internship Program. With the aspiration of understanding how marketing helps business development, I chose to work in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) in IBM marketing, and in the next 6 months, this internship experience has impacted my life in a way I would never thought of.
With deepening my understanding of how it organized, IBM’s marketing department is like a small company as it is not under IBM. Working with more than 30 talented IMC professionals, I was able to observe how the most outstanding marketing campaigns and tactics are being developed and executed. I also participated some of the tactics activities like the “2006 Banking Show”, “Blue Sky roadshow”, etc. When I saw the event finally succeed and received all the praises from both internal and external customers, we know all our previous hard time worth. As a team member of the marketing projects, it not only gave me the opportunity to learn from those experienced colleagues, but also provided me freedom to realize my own ideas.
Through our discussions with other interns in other Business units, I realized that Blue Path Way has provided us a variety of positions: ranging from marketing to sales; operation to research, we were offered the opportunities to experience a wide range of business disciplines and functions, and of course, the opportunity to work with some most passionate, knowledgeable and professional IBMers on the job. There is no better way to understand a company and its culture than having an overview of the organization’s structure. At the end of my internship, I was offered as a consultant in another Business Unit which was IBM Global Business Service (GBS). My performance in my previous marketing events’ plannings and executions, together with my knowledge of different IBM business functions had given my future boss the confidence to take me into their team.
Joining the IBM Blue Pathway Internship Program was a treasurable and rewarding experience. It not only offered me the opportunity to start my career in IBM with a position that I have great interests in, but also helped me to make the important transition from a college student to a professional IBMer. Now when I look into the future, I am confident and sky’s the limit!
